Message from Founder's Family
Kelly and I grew up together in and around Hall County. We attended elementary school, middle school, high school, and 2 years of college together. Wow, so when I think back, we have actually known each other for over 40 years. We have been married for 28 short years and we have three tremendous children; 2 daughters (Makenzie and Madison) and 1 son (Riley).
Once upon a time, we had what felt like a very normal life. I had a STABLE job while Kelly handled the more important duty of raising our kids. We lived in a swim/tennis community with STABLE neighbors, we were members of a STABLE church, we didn't have financial struggles and we were simply cruising through our STABLE life......then we got serious about Jesus.
We followed His prompting and I quit my STABLE job. We sold our STABLE home. We packed up what we thought was our STABLE family and moved to Eagle Ranch as houseparents. (My apologies for the overuse of the adjective STABLE.....it will make sense shortly.) Eagle Ranch provides a Christ-centered children's home for boys and girls. We served at Eagle Ranch for 4 years from the summer of 2007 until May of 2011.
God showed us so many things through our time at Eagle Ranch that has strengthened our marriage and solidified our family. In our last year at the Ranch, God also began to reveal to us His plan for the next season of our lives.
God began to introduce people into our lives that would forever change us. We had the privilege of becoming involved with a non-profit in Gainesville, Georgia, called Our Neighbor. Our Neighbor is a residential community that assists, develops, and trains people with disabilities. Through our time getting to know the employees and residents of Our Neighbor, God started to give us the vision of the non-profit ministry that He wanted us to start......STABLE LIFE. (Told you it would make sense.)
So, we voluntarily quit our jobs at Eagle Ranch in May of 2011. If you didn't quite catch that, I said voluntarily. Yep....that's right.....the first thing that God asked us to do as we began developing His vision for STABLE LIFE was to purposefully become jobless and homeless. As if our faith hadn't been stretched farther than we thought possible (you know.....like the elastic at the top of a 10 year old sock??), we were now entering an entire new level of trust in Jesus. We must now TRULY rely on Him to meet even our most basic needs.
Stable Life is currently operating out of our home in Gainesville, Ga. We currently offer physical training and basic horsemanship as well as respite services. It is our goal to outgrow our location, but we acknowledge that His ways and His timing are certainly not our way and our timing. Whatever growth that Stable Life experiences and whatever Stable Life becomes, it will be because of Jesus. What John said was true at creation and continues to be true today, "All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being." - John 1:3
